Who would favor a 4 day work week?

4 hour work week
…. . .-.. .-.. — asked:

Is it time to consider a work week of 4 ten hour days?
Seems like this would help kill a number of birds with a single stone. People would save an entire day driving back and forth from work. It would cut back on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It would cut back on energy usage in office buildings and factories.
Heck, it would even cut back day care cost for working parents.
What do you think of a 4 day work week?

What would we all do Friday through Sunday with everything closed? When would you take care of your personal business?

Yes, it’s a lot more common in Europe. Many jobs here in the U.S. do this and get around overtime laws due to certain agreements.

For example, my fiance just got a seasonal job at a national park working 4 10 hour days a week.

Personally, I agree. I would much rather work this schedule and have a 3 day weekend every week. It especially makes sense when you think of the amount of commuting people do, it really would make people save money and time, put fewer cars on the road, and the whole country as a whole would save energy. Of course it would just be an option for employees and employers.

Going to work for 8 hours in one day pretty much kills the whole day anyway…might as well work two more and get a three day weekend every time. I’m all for it!

    I work a 4-10.

Love it. Wouldn’t go back. I love the three day weekends.

I would start off by first creating more vacation time spread through out the whole year. On my calender, there are no holidays between January to May.

For one we can create a national election day. People can take the day off to vote. Sounds good to met. I’m sure we can come up with more holidays.
